Mr. Garthe is a principal/partner in Heebner, Baggett,
Upchurch & Garthe, P.L. He is an honors graduate of the University
of Georgia School of Law, receiving academic recognition as the school's
Troutman Scholar in 1979, it's Constangy Scholar in 1980, Senior Editor
of the Georgia Law Review, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif upon his graduation in 1981, finishing in the top 6% of his class. Following graduation, he served as a Judicial Assistant to Chief Justice Harold N. Hill, Jr. of the Supreme Court of Georgia and then joined the Atlanta law firm of Alston & Bird as an associate business and finance attorney.
Subsequently, Mr. Garthe served for in excess of 10 years as Sr. Vice President,
General Counsel and a principal in Regency Health Care Centers, Inc. Prior to joining Heebner,
Baggett, Upchurch & Garthe, P.L., Mr. Garthe was the C.E.O. of The Lone Palm Company, L.L.C.,
Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Medtx Corporation, and practiced
with the law firm of Smith Hood Perkins in Daytona Beach, Florida. He is licensed
to practice law in all courts in the States of Georgia and Florida. He is a member of the Volusia County and American Bar Associations and has been involved in numerous multi-million dollar commercial transactions.
Throughout his career Mr. Garthe has volunteered his time and services to governmental,
civic and charitable organizations, including The City of Ormond Beach, The Easter Seals Foundation,
The United Way, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Project Graduation, and
various religious and youth programs and booster groups. He has also served as the
Chairman of various boards and committees for these and other organizations.
Mr. Garthe practices primarily in the areas of business contracts and
transactions, corporate law, and complex commercial, probate and trust
litigation.
